Ever heard the claim that veils hide the beards and moustaches of  Muslim women – a nasty joke or actually true?  Forget that hair piece even if all your hair falls out and no tattoos or smelly perfume either!   Hmm, is silk OK or will I be barred from paradise for wearing it on earth...   The Muslim life is one of absolute external control based on the FEAR of failing to obey one of the endless dictates of allah/Mohammad and thereby doing something ‘haram.’   Reason, freedom of choice and personal responsibility–what are they to a Muslim when all has been decided for you?

Unlike the uncertainty regarding make-up, some dictates for women are much clearer but others aren’t-
No false hair, no tattoos, no plucking the hair from the face, no widening the gap between the teeth, no perfume you can smell, dye your hair red or yellow only, no sandals but the wearing of silk and gold jewellery is uncertain....

1) Tatoos, space between the teeth and plucking facial hair are forbidden:

***Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 815:   Narrated 'Abdullah:    Allah has cursed those women who practise tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those who remove their face hairs, and those who create a space between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, and such women as change the features created by Allah. Why then should I not curse those whom the Prophet has cursed? And that is in Allah's Book. i.e. His Saying: 'And what the Apostle gives you take it and what he forbids you abstain (from it).' (59.7)

(No tattooing, plucking facial hair or spaces in teeth is repeated in  *Bukhari Vol 7, Book 72, Nos 822, 826, 832and  *Muslim Book 24, Nos 5301,   5302,   5303,   5304 etc!!)

***Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 820: Narrated Ibn Umar
Allah's Apostle said, "Allah has cursed such a lady as lengthens (her or someone else's) hair artificially or gets it lengthened, and also a lady who tattoos (herself or someone else) or gets herself tattooed.

(Repeated in *Muslim Book 24, No. 5300 with more anti-hair and/or anti-tattooing *Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Nos 816, 823, 825, 829, 830, 831

***Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 827: Narrated Abu Huraira : Allah's Apostle said, "The evil eye is a fact," and he forbade tattooing.   (repeated in No. 828 –this text also shows Islam’s paganism)

Laws:

**Reliance of the traveller  Law p 59.0 p 691  ‘The prophet (allah bless him and give him peace) said,
“Allah curse women who wear false hairs or arrange it for others, who tattoo or have themselves tattooed, who pluck facial hair or eyebrows or have them plucked, and women who separate their front teeth for beauty, altering what allah has created”

**Reliance of the Traveller  law w 51.1 p 965 repeats the law above (Law p 59.0  p 691) exactly.

**Reliance of the Traveller  Law w51.2 p 965    Nawawi says that “an exception from the prohibition of plucking away facial hair is when a woman has a beardmustache, or hair growing between her lower lip and chin, in which cases it is not unlawful for her to remove it, but rather commendable “the permissibility being on condition that her husband knows of it and gives his permission, though it is PROHIBITED if he does not because of the deception it entails.

 (Note Nawawi is an imam born in Syria in 1233 and died in 1277.  He was obsessed with Islam and wrote legal opinion in Shafi’i law.   He obviously didn’t like hairy females!).  Note –no plucking of the eyebrows!

Hence we see that women don’t control their own body and a nasty husband can sentence you to life with a beard or moustache..and bushy eyebrows for all.

Ibn Hajar’s list of enormities warns  followers against any act that an Islamic scholar has classified as an enormity –sin –for the god fearing eg

**Reliance of the Traveller w52.1  p 971   (80) lengthening ones hair with false hair or having it done;
(81) tattooing or having it done
(83)  plucking eyebrows or facial hair , or having it done;
(111) (p 973)  dying the beard or hair black for other than jihad or the like;
(272)(p 982-983) a woman leaving her house perfumed and adorned, even with her husband’s permission;

2)  No false hair even if you have lost your hair through disease.  Women who wear false hair are cursed –as are those who ask for it.

***Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 818:   Narrated Asma: (the daughter of Abu' Bakr) A woman came to Allah's Apostle and said, "I married my daughter to someone, but she became sick and all her hair fell out, and (because of that) her husband does not like her. May I let her use false hair?" On that the Prophet cursed such a lady as artificially lengthening (her or someone else's) hair or got her hair lengthened artificially.

(see also *Bukhari Vol 7 Book 72 Nos. 817, 819. 824  In 821 using false hair is called cheating.  The sad story is repeated in ***Muslim Book 24, Number 5295 where Allah has cursed the woman who adds some false hair and the woman who asks for it and in No. 5296; Similarly in No’s. 5297,  5298, 5299 with further warnings against false hair in *Muslim Book 24, Nos 5305,  5306, 5307, 5308)

This and similar text is repeated many times over in the Bukhari and Muslim hadiths (the most revered sets) and in other hadith sets as if this were some great immoral act!  How trivial and even sadistic to refuse false hair including refusing false hair to those who lost their hair through illness.

3) NO perfume that has an odour for women or you are a female of ill repute (adulteress/fornicator)

***Abu-Dawud  Book 32, Number 4037: Narrated Imran ibn Husayn: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: .....The perfume used by men should have an odour but no colour, and the perfume used by women should have a colour but no odour. Sa'id said: I think he said: They interpreted his tradition about perfume used by women as applying when she comes out. But when she is with her husband, she may use any perfume she wishes.

***Abu-Dawud Book 33, Number 4161:     Narrated AbuMusa:  The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If a woman uses perfume and passes the people so that they may get its odour, she is so-and-so, meaning severe remarks.         (fornicator in other text!!)

***Tirmidi hadith 330     Narrated AbuMusa  Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Every eye is lustful and when a woman applies perfume and then goes about in an assembly, she is like such and such, i.e. an adulteress.  (ALIMCDRom)

***Abu-Dawud Book 33, Number 4163:            Narrated AbuHurayrah:   The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If a woman fumigates herself with perfume, she must not attend the night prayer with us. ..  (see also No.  4162)

4) Hair dye:   Red or yellow only.

A few claim Mohammad didn't dye his hair but many state that he dyed it red or yellow!

***Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 668: (also Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 786:)
Narrated Abu Huraira:  Allah's Apostle said, "The Jews and the Christians do not dye (their grey hair), so you shall do the opposite of what they do (i.e. dye your grey hair and beards)."   (also **
*Muslim, Book 24, Number 5245)

***Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 785: Narrated Uthman bin 'Abdullah bin Mauhab:   I went to Um Salama and she brought out for us some of the dyed hair of the Prophet . ibn Mauhab also said that Um Salama had shown him the red hair of the prophet.

***Abu-Dawud Book 33, Number 4193:    Narrated AbuDharr: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The best things with which grey hair are changed are henna and katam.

***Abu-Dawud Book 33, Number 4194:     Narrated AbuRimthah: I went with my father to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him). He had locks hanging down as far as the lobes of the ears stained with henna, and he was wearing two green garments.

*Bukhari Volume 1, Book 4, No. 167 and  Vol 7 Book 72 No. 742 also note Mohammad dyed his hair with henna (Red).

***Abu-Dawud Book 33, Number 4198:     Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:    The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) used to wear tanned leather sandals and dye his beard yellow with wars and saffron.

***Abu-Dawud Book 33, Number 4199:    Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: When a man who had dyed himself with henna passed by the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him), he said: How fine this is! When another man who had dyed himself with henna and katam passed by, he said: This is better than that. Then another man who had dyed himself with yellow dye, passed by, he said: This is better than all that.

Laws:

**Fiqh us-sunnah :   Vol 1 23a:   Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet, upon whom be peace, said, "The Jews and Christians do not dye, so differ from them." (Related by "the group.") Abu Dharr reported that the Messenger of Allah said, "The best thing that one can use to change the color of grey hairs is henna and katm (a reddish dye)." (Related by "the five.")
There are some narrations that state that dying is disliked, but it is obvious that these narrations conflict with the sunnah and custom. .....

(ALIMCDRom)( Fiqh-us-Sunnah was written by Sayyid Saabiq -1915-2000 C.E.  It summarises the laws of all 4 schools. ‘Every Fiqh ruling in the book goes back to the Qur'an and Sunnah and Sabiq dealt with all four madhahib objectively, with no preferential treatment to any.’ It is used by Muslims worldwide)

**Reliance of the Traveller Law e4.4 p 59.   ‘It is unlawful for men or women to dye their hair black, except when the intention is jihad.  Plucking out grey hairs is offensive.  It is sunna to dye the hair yellow or red.’

Well, at least that seems clear!!   Note ladies –red or yellow only because you must copy Mohammad!

5)  Sandals or 'mannish' dress are banned for women!

***Abu-Dawud Book 32, Number 4087:    Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) cursed the man who dressed like a woman and the woman who dressed like a man.

***Abu-Dawud Book 32, Number 4088:    Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin:  Ibn AbuMulaykah told that when someone remarked to Aisha that a woman was wearing sandals, she replied: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) cursed mannish women.    (toss those summer sandals out!)

6)  Gold jewellery and silk are unclear –Ask your internet imam–but does he really know??

***Abu-Dawud Book 34, Number 4224: Narrated AbuHurayrah:    The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone wants to put a ring of fire on one he loves, let him put a gold ring on him: if anyone wants to put a necklace of fire on one he loves, let him put a gold necklace on him, and if anyone wants to put a bracelet of fire on one he loves let him put a gold bracelet on him. Keep to silver and amuse yourselves with it.

***Abu-Dawud  Book 34, Number 4225:     Narrated A sister of Hudhayfah:   The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: You women folk, have in silver something with which you adorn yourselves. I assure you that any woman of you who adorns herself with gold which she displays will be punished for it.

***Abu-Dawud Book 34, Number 4226:   Narrated Asma' daughter of Yazid:   The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Any woman who wears a gold necklace will have a similar one of fire put on her neck on the Day of Resurrection, and any woman who puts a gold earring in her ear will have a similar one of fire put in her ear on the Day of Resurrection.

Yet others state gold and silk is OK for women –(Oh NO!! Who’s right!!)

***Tirmidhi No.  1152   Narrated AbuMusa al-Ash'ari  The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Gold and silk are permitted to the females among my people but prohibited to the males." Tirmidhi and Nasa'i transmitted it..

**Reliance of the Traveller eg Laws f17.0 –f17.11 p199 -202 deal with some aspects of clothes and jewellery and note both sexes can wear silver but for men, only a ring on their little finger and no silk for men but then gives a confusing list which does allow it in certain cases.

And surprisingly the shafii law allows silk and gold jewellery for women, despite the text above and below --- but then most women are going to hell anyway!

**The Fiqh us-sunnah  vol 1 No. 12A  states ‘it is forbidden to wear silk and gold,’

 While Vol 3 No.16a   notes confusion on paying zakat on gold and silver –including gold jewellery for women (?) –

‘In the same way, Asma' bint Yazid reported: "My aunt and I, while wearing gold bracelets, went to the Prophet, upon whom be peace. He asked: 'Did you pay their zakah?' She related that they had not. The Prophet said: 'Do you not fear that Allah will make you wear a bracelet of fire? Pay its zakah.' " Al-Haythami confirms that it was narrated by Ahmad, and its chain is good.    (Similar is reported in Tirmidhi hadith No. 574 ALIMCDRom)

'Aishah narrated: "The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, came to me and saw me wearing silver rings. Thereupon, he asked: 'What is this, 'Aishah?' I replied: 'I made them to adorn myself for you, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Did you pay their zakah?' I said: 'No, or what Allah wishes.' Then he said: 'Their punishment in Hell is enough for you.' " This is related by Abu Dawud, ad-Daraqutni, and al-Baihaqi.

The concensus is pay the zakat even on ‘prohibited’ adornments or you will pay in the afterlife –even if you are Mohammad’s little childbride!   (This is clearly to extort as much money as possible for those in power to use as they wish eg in jihad, and it continues today!)

Can women wear silk or not?  Do they risk being changed into apes or swine and denied paradise!-

***Bukhari 7 book 69 No.537.       Narrated Hudhaifa.   The Prophet said, "Do not drink in gold or silver utensils, and do NOT wear clothes of silk or Dibaj, for these things are for them (unbelievers) in this world and for you in the Hereafter.

***Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 722:     Narrated Ibn Abi Laila: ......... Allah's Apostle said, 'Gold, silver, silk and Dibaj (a kind of silk) are for them (unbelievers) in this world and for you (Muslims) in the hereafter.'

***Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 723:    Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, Whoever wears silk in this world shall not wear it in the Hereafter." (ie you don’t reach the hereafter!)
(the text is repeated many times particularly in book 72.  Bukhari is the most authentic and revered set of hadith)

Does this refer only to men? Text, including from the highly revered Muslim hadith, suggests females as well-

***Muslim Book 24, Number 5150:      Khalifa b. Ka'b AbCi Dhubyan reported: I heard 'Abdullah b. Zubair addressing the people and saying: Behold! Do NOT dress your women with silk clothes for I heard 'Umar b. Khattab as saying that he had heard Allah's messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not wear silk, for one who wears it in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter.

People (men or women) who wear silk can be changed into apes or swine!

*** Abu-Dawud Book 32, Number 4028:    Narrated AbuAmir or AbuMalik:   AbdurRahman ibn Ghanam al-Ash'ari said: AbuAmir or AbuMalik told me--I swear by Allah another oath that he did not believe me that he heard the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) say: There will be among my community people who will make lawful (the use of) khazz and silk. Some of them will be transformed into apes and swine.

Conclusion:  Yes, this has been a banal, trivial excursion through just a few aspects of Islam to show you how banal, trivial, petty, cruel (no hairpiece even for those suffering a disease), irrational, absurd, controlling and utterly invasive of every aspect of your life Islam really is!  Yes, it even tells you how to pee and pooh, how many stones to use to wipe your bottom or when you can have sex with your wives.   You have no individual privacy or choice at all as your life is under external control.   It’s puerile, insane and designed for the brain-dead who leave reason behind and only ask ‘IS IT HALAL or HARAM?’   What other consideration could there be?

Muslims are indeed the slaves of allah.  Yet all their halal/haram FEARS are worth nothing as their entire life and entry to hell or heaven was determined by allah before they were born (see part 1 and Evil allah leads people astray –Circe 13/5/08. )   Why would women worry anyway as women populate hell and there is nothing for them in paradise other than watching males ‘enjoying’ the young females and boys ‘like pearls.’
If I was a Muslim female I’d totally ignore the halal/haram insanity and enjoy life as I wished –after all, allah’s already decided and it’s odds on it’s going to be hell... but of course Muslim females aren’t free and their punishment for any failure to comply can be carried out in the here and now.

And rather than challenge the cult-control insanity of Islam, we threaten those who speak against it.
