In 2010 Dr Mustafa Ceric, grand mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sanjak, Croatia and Slovenia, speaking at the global Halal congress in Karachi, Pakistan hosted by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that the halal movement can enable Muslims to dominate the global economy (The daily mail – Pakistan 11/12/10). But, who cares right: after all we have already allowed the artificially created sharia finance to over-ride our laws as it powers on with its financial jihad so why not hand over food and the whole global economy as well? Australia has thrown out its moral, ethical animal cruelty laws to allow some abattoirs to slaughter animals without stunning for the halal market. The use of 'reversible' stunning in halal slaughter is also a concern. The live export of animals to Muslim countries known for their sadism to animals eg Indonesia (4 Corners 30/5/11) and Egypt also continues. I am ashamed of this country! I do not want to eat any meat slaughtered according to sharia law or dedicated to the horrifying allah!
Slaughter without stunning is banned in Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Iceland on animal welfare grounds.
In July 2010 the European Parliament voted for the compulsory labelling of meat from animals slaughtered without stunning. BUT, we need ALL halal meat (Muslim kill), stunned or unstunned LABELLED right to the end consumer so we do NOT particpate in allowing sharia and meat dedicated to allah to be forced onto US at our expense as we pay a religious food tax to Islam.
The halal slaughter of animals has many problems:
- The sadistic killing involved where there is NO stunning PRIOR to killing –as is the case in several abattoirs and problems with ‘reversible’ stunning in others.
- the dedication of meat to allah
- the control by Islam –killing floors turned to Mecca; export control; supervision by a halal certifier; transfer of funds to....
- the payment to Islamic groups for inspections and certification
- discrimination in the workforce as Islamic slaughtermen are used
- the possible use of halal slaughter as a means to get Muslim men (then their families) into Australia.
- the failure to label halal meat so an unsuspecting public again pays Islam’s religious tax as we inadvertently eat meat dedicated to allah.
Islam is sadistic towards humans and other animals:
Remember Islam allows adult men to marry and have sex with the tiniest of prepubescent girls; it allows men to beat and plough their wives; to beat their children who don’t pray; to behead, stone, amputate, put hot irons in the eyes, flog, and torture following the perfect example of Mohammad.
Islamic text is filled with acts of sadism against animals and blood lust – make those animals bleed!

The sacrifice will come on the Day of Resurrection with its horns, its hair and its hooves, and the blood finds acceptance with Allah before it falls on the ground, so be glad about it." Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it. (ALIM CDrom)
Animal sacrifice is a symbol of allah and continues today –**Koran 22.32, and 22.36 –line them up and slaughter them.
***Malik’s Muwatta Book 20, Number 20.57.190: Yahya related to me from Malik from Jafar ibn Muhammad from his father from Ali ibn Abi Talib that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, killed some of his sacrificial animals himself, and someone else killed the rest.
***Abu Dawud book 15, Number 2818: Narrated Adi ibn Hatim: I said: Apostle of Allah, tell me when one of us catches game and has no knife; may he slaughter with a flint and a splinter of stick. He said: Cause the blood to flow with whatever you like and mention Allah's name. (likewise for hares slaughtered with a flint No. 2816)
There is much more text showing cruelty and bloodlust some is appended to the end of the article. The sadism towards animals was shown recently for Australian cattle sent to Indonesia (4 Corners 30/5/11).
Animal protection is a long way from the reality of Islamic text and laws. This is the background of sharia halal killing laws which are applied to all meat. Part 1 listed halal and haram animals for meat. To be halal it must be killed according to certain requirements.
***Koran 5.3 Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah; that which hath been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which hath been (partly) eaten by a wild animal unless ye are able to slaughter it (in due form); that which is sacrificed on stone (altars); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows: that is impiety. Note: In Reliance of the traveller, Shafii sharia law requires only the windpipe and gullet to be cut—this would leave the animal to die slowly as air could still enter the lungs via the cut windpipe, the heart is still beating and the blood still circulating ...
*Law j17.3 p 364. It is permissible to slaughter with anything that has a cutting edge; but not a tooth, bone or claw whether human or otherwise or attached to the body or not.
*Law j14.4 P 364 The necessary condition for slaughtering any animal which is within one’s capacity to slaughter is to cut both the windpipe and gullet..
It is NOT necessary for the validity of slaughtering to cut the carotid arteries, which are the two blood vessels on the sides of the neck encompassing the windpipe.
If the slaughterer neglects to cut any part of either the windpipe or the gullet and the animal dies, it is considered an unslaughtered dead animal, as is an animal with nothing but purely reflexive movement left when one finishes cutting a part of the windpipe or gullet previously missed.....

(Hence true Muslims don’t allow stunning even after the throat is cut as the animal must be conscious and clearly alive..or it is considered ‘unslaughtered’ and hence unlawful to eat!!) If more than one cut is required, the animal must still be ALIVE at the end of the cuts to be permissible to eat!!!
*Law J17.5 p 365 notes turning the animal to the qibla, saying allah’s and Mohammad’s name, sharpening the knife and cutting quickly and recommends cutting the large blood vessels.
*Law J17.6 p 365 It is recommended to slaughter camels by thrusting the knife (O: into the hollow at the base of the neck [A: between the two collarbones] above the chest so that one severs them ([A: the windpipe and gullet] in this concavity, since it is easier than cutting the throat, for it speeds the exit of the spirit from the body by bypassing the length of the neck, being the preferable way to slaughter any animal with a long neck, such as a DUCK, GOOSE, OSTRICH or GIRAFFE) with the camel left standing, one foreleg bound up.
*Law j17.7 p366 It is recommended to slaughter other than camels (O: such as cattle, sheep, goats, or horses [A: by drawing the knife] across the throat at the top of the neck after laying them on their left side. (O: slaughtering them this way is only called for to easily enable the slaughterer to hold the knife in his right hand and the animals head with his left. It is also sunna for the animal’s legs to be bound, except the right hind leg, so the animal will not jerk during slaughtering and cause the slaughterer to miss his mark. The right hind leg is left free in order to pacify the animal by giving it something to move)

There is only slight variation in the Hedaya or Hanafi sharia laws with a few differences in allowed animals.
The laws note that Mohammad said ‘spill the blood with whatever thing it may pleas thee’ (Hedaya v4 p 69) and that the object of the slaughter is the ‘effusion of the blood.’’(p 70)
The animal is lawful where three of the four vessels are cut ---- the windpipe and gullet should be cut and one of the two bloodvessels because as the effusion of the blood is the design of cutting the blood vessels, one of them may serve as substitute for the other but as the gullet and the windpipe on the contrary answer two different purposes....it is requisite therefore that they both be cut.
Haneefa’s (Hanafi) view is that “the majority represents the whole in many rules of law ; and when 3 of the 4 vessels are cut, the majority is cut.......If therefore to avoid giving additional pain, only 3 vessels are cut, it is sufficient.
P 71 does allow as ‘lawful’ cutting the animal in the back of the neck then cutting its vessels as long as the animal is alive when the vessels are cut even though the pain is increased!!
Wild animals can be slaughtered and the blood made to flow by wounding rather than cutting the vessels and they are lawful to eat.
P 72 says camels must be speared in the throat and also allows this for goat and oxen although contrary to the sunna.
Animals killed by a Jew or Christian may be acceptable if they carry out the process according to Islamic dictates including the ‘invocation’ in the name of allah?? If the wrong invocation is said the animal is NOT lawful (Hedaya V 4 P 67). Clearly Islamic slaughter requires Muslim slaughtermen as no true Jew or Christian would chant invocations to allah.
Both claim to not ‘unnecessarily increase the animal’s pain’ but this is like other Islamic claims --mere words which clearly have a different meaning for them. Remember the often quoted ‘Mohammad said to treat women with kindness’ where Muslims fail to mention the rest of the quote where he refers to women as domestic animals or prisoners and tells men to beat them if they disobey (Tirmidi hadith 104, Sirat Rasulallah by Ibn Ishaq p 651, Tabari). Mohammad himself hit his child bride and claimed allah gave men permission to beat their wives (kindness??)(*Muslim book 4 No. 2127; *Abu Dawud Book 11 No. 2141; koran 4.34)
It is clear to us that such killing IS SADISTIC causing great pain and that the listed practices make it even more painful and long-lasting for the animal particularly where one or possibly none of the blood vessels are cut!
For beef, it is particularly sadistic as they have a blood supply to the head going through the back of the neck so cutting the throat still leaves a conscious animal, alive for some time even if BOTH neck blood-vessels are cut!

In my view humane killing requires the animal to be killed immediately (slitting the throat is NOT immediate) or rendered completely, irreversibly unconscious and insensible to pain PRIOR to the killing. I am therefore against all slaughter that does NOT do this.
Once upon a time, all animals had to be effectively irreversibly stunned (unconscious) before slaughter. Halal killing even with stunning only accepts REVERSIBLE electrical stunning so the animal can and DOES regain consciousness!
Now some abattoirs have been allowed to carry out halal slaughter without prior stunning or even post stunning.
A special arrangement with the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service allows Midfield Meats of Warrnambool to kill animals without stunning for halal markets. Three Victorian domestic abattoirs also have approval to slaughter without stunning from Primesafe, the state regulatory body (Edwards 2007).
A letter sent to then Prime Minister K. Rudd in November 2009 from the ‘Barristers Animal Welfare Panel’ notes that 4 abattoirs continue to kill without stunning and notes the APIMC decision of 6 November to permit ritual slaughter of conscious sheep without pre-stunning to CONTINUE despite two reports commissioned by the Federal Department of Agriculture, the Adams-Sheridan Report (references 2008) and the Hemsworth Report, which showed that animals suffered unnecessary pain, panic and terror. Their findings are consistent with the 2004 review by the European Food Safety Authority, which reviewed all science on the question.
*Is killing without irrevesible stunning HUMANE or NOT? An inhumane act is not rendered humane simply because it satisfies a religious dictate.
The power to stop this remains with the Federal Government who clearly lack any moral standards at all. The Halal process is regulated through the Australian Government's Authorised Halal Program by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS), and is supervised by independent Islamic organisations. *Why has this removal of our ethical standards (laws) for animal slaughter been allowed and why have efforts been made to HIDE it from the public??
While some Muslims claim it’s OK to prior stun (with electrical stunning so the animal isn’t killed and can regain consciousness), others that it’s OK to post stun (it’s too late then) still others claim no stunning or ‘injury’ to the animal is allowed and this fits the laws best!
Note: Halal slaughter overseas may NOT permit stunning of the animals (RSPCA 2011) so why would stunned meat from Australia be acceptable to these markets?
Indeed under sharia the animal should be clearly alive and conscious –not just left with ‘reflexive actions.’ While we are assured that most halal meat is ‘reversibly’ stunned first, how long will even this last as demand for non-stunned meat grows along with Islamic control of the market?
In 2007 then Federal Minister for Agriculture Peter McGauran, said there was strong demand for meat exports slaughtered without stunning both in Australia and overseas –religious beliefs require killing without stunning. (Edwards 2007).
In Nov 2009 WSPA noted:
‘Unfortunately, the decision to allow slaughter without stunning is likely to hamper efforts to have stunning more broadly accepted in the Middle East and could open the floodgates for other Middle Eastern importers to request non-stunned meat from Australia’
On a Muslim ‘chat-room’ (Muslim chatroom 2011) regarding halal slaughter in Australia (2010-211) ; ‘Abdullahnana’(15/2/2010) posts a report from 2 American muftis/scholars who went to Australia at the end of 2009 and visited 10 abattoirs –they note –
‘Yes, the act of stunning is reprehensible and should be avoided as much as possible. One should refer to the fatwas and articles on stunning for more information.’
Syed Rasheeduddin Ahmed of Muslim Consumer Group For Food Products USA had his say on 15-02-2010, 10:04 PM in response to this report by Abdullahnana,
‘Why should I buy stunned lamb at costco when many Halal meat stores are supplying lamb without stunning’
‘We have established a Muslim Cooperative -consists of Halal meat suppliers, Halal meat store owners, vets, myself, Br. Mazahar Hussaini in Chicago to promote real Zabiha meat without stunning’
His recommendation –don’t buy meat from Australia, buy local unstunned meat.
These are our ‘moderate’ western living Muslims!!
Killing WITHOUT prior stunning in Australia:
Think for a second –they are going to cut your throat ---and you can choose to be stunned (unconscious) before or not: Which would you choose?
I never said killing animals is nice but when it’s done without prior stunning it’s sadism.
According to the RSPCA, (RSPCA 2011) this process involves-
For cattle, this means the animal must remain in an upright position with the head and body restrained. The animal must be stunned with a captive-bolt pistol immediately after the throat is cut (known as ‘sticking’). Two separate people must perform the sticking and stunning. If there are any problems restraining the animal while attempting to stick it, then it must be stunned immediately.
For religious slaughter of sheep, the guideline requires cutting both the carotid arteries and the jugular veins. This must be confirmed — IF they are not completely severed, then the animal must be immediately stunned. (Otherwise, NO stunning)
This is supposedly done according to a guideline - Ritual Slaughter for Ovine (Sheep) and Bovine (Cattle): Note: sharia law does NOT require both sets of blood vessels to be cut.
Sheep receive NO stunning at all. And who is there to ensure cattle are stunned as beef with its throat cut is not likely to be standing still waiting for another act of violence. And what happens to goats??
Animals must be restrained (they don’t like having their throat cut) and the amount of force needed to hold cattle in particular while someone slits its throat is quite considerable adding even more pain and terror to the animals. Given that we saw ‘halal’ slaughtermen cutting the animal’s throat multiple times in the 4 Corner’s program (30/5/11) we must be genuinely concerned over the competency of the slaughterer (usually imported from overseas), the appropriateness of the cutting tool and the added pain to the animal. Imagine the force needed to cut through the thick neck, hide and muscles of cattle!
The Adams, Sheridan report (2008) commissioned by the Federal Government on the risks to livestock from slaughter without stunning notes –pain and terror come from the physical restraint needed to expose the neck for long enough to be cut, the pain of the incision, the stress of bloodloss...There are various types of pain and the unstunned animal has a chance to experience them. As for bloodloss, the body attempts to prevent this so it takes time for an animal to become unconscious through bloodloss and the body is in distress and pain during this time. The animal cannot escape leading to panic and terror. Slow times to onset of unconsciousness were reported in cattle....
Massive amounts of stress hormones would be released in animals either unstunned or not permanently stunned as they recover consciousness. Animals would begin releasing these stress hormones as they smell the blood, hear the cries of other animals and are forced into positions needed for slaughtermen to cut the throat of a conscious animal!
Such stress hormones, released in large amounts under these circumstances would seep into the muscle (meat) as the animal slowly bleeds to death. There's no chance of obtaining any accurate study of the level of these hormones in halal meat. Such hormones would not be good to eat.
There will be excuses and suggestions for improving the situation when the obvious answer is right in your face –STOP ALL SLAUGHTER of ANIMALS that are NOT FULLY, PERMANENTLY STUNNED and UNCONSCIOUS PRIOR to throat slitting.
Even with stunning by electrical means (reversible stunning) used in halal killing the process remains barbaric-
The Adams/Sheridan report states – ‘reversible stunning is not in itself sufficient to lead to death of the animal. All stunning must be inextricably linked to the performance of slaughter using a reliable and fast means of exsanguination.’( p XIV)
Translated this means you better hope the animal has bled enough to become unconscious before it wakes up from the reversible stunning. Some animals may be ‘conscious’ but immobilised...
And haven’t we all got great faith in procedures carried out under the supervision of a Muslim ‘certifier’ and Muslim slaughtermen usually imported from overseas where such high standards of animal welfare prevail!
Well, from the Muslim chatroom- ‘Abdullahnana’(15/2/2010) -we read in the report by the Muslim ‘scholars’ who toured our halal slaughter houses at the end of 2009 that –
‘Slaughterers are authorized to remove animals from the line which did not bleed properly, were not stunned properly, or were not cut properly. They will mark them with a special tag and inform the plant manager to process the animal separately. There are strict measures in place to keep these animals completely separate from the regular halal animals. These carcasses are not labeled as halal and not exported to halal markets
The main concern is whether the animal remains alive after this method of stunning. The two scholars have conducted research on electric stunning for sheep....... They even requested that a sheep be stunned with the electric stunner and removed from the line in order to give it time to regain consciousness. The animal DID regain consciousness within a few seconds.
A pneumatic stunner or mushroom stunner is used for beef. This is also a non-lethal type of stunning in which the device does not penetrate the brain of the animal. The beef plants have measures in place to reject those animals whose skulls are damaged or cracked from the stunner. This type of stunning also will not cause the death of the animal and will not affect the halal status of the meat.
One might ask why I quote this report and the answer is that although it may be made to ‘vanish’ and hence be hard to verify I have read it and copied it to my computer and I believe these 2 Muslims whose aim was to give an accurate report of halal slaughter in Australia to see if it really does meet Islamic requirements, gives a far more honest report of what goes on inside halal slaughter houses than I have been able to get from enquiries of the industry where even people from the same department give me different answers and denial is rife!
Neither Muslim slaughtermen nor the Muslim halal certifier who controls the killing floor would report or be concerned by animals regaining consciousness during or following throat slitting as Islam demands the animal be clearly alive post cutting. Animals that die (shock, heart attack) during throat slitting or have only 'purely reflexive movement left' are considered 'unslaughtered,' 'unlawful,' NOT halal.
Killing without stunning is morally indefensible and killing with ‘reversible’ stunning only slightly less so -- All animals should be irreversibly stunned pre-cutting. Cattle should be stunned with ‘properly placed penetrating mechanical stunning which has the potential to produce immediate and sustained loss of consciousness in 100% of cattle’ ...Likewise for sheep and goats. Such methods don’t affect bleed-out times (Adams 2008 p XIV, XV, XVI)
Australia should be known for its HUMANE slaughter of animals NOT for its halal slaughter!
We need to find wider markets for meat in countries that would not tolerate halal procedures –eg Japan (they care about the welfare of the animal), South Korea, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Christian Africa and central and southern America where sadistic practices and dedication to allah are NOT required or appreciated.

***Abu Dawud book 15, Number 2817: Narrated Ata' ibn Yasar: A man of Banu Harith was pasturing a pregnant she-camel in one of the ravines of Uhud, (he saw that) it was about to die; he could find nothing to slaughter it; he took a stake and stabbed it in the upper part of its breast until he made its blood flow. He then came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and informed him about that, and he ordered him to eat it. (repeated in ***Malik’s Muwatta Book 24, Number 24.2.3:)
***Malik’s Muwatta Book 24, Number 24.2.4: Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from a man of the Ansar from Muadh ibn Sad or Sad ibn Muadh that a slave-girl of Kab ibn Malik was herding some sheep at Sal (a mountain near Madina). One of the sheep was about to die, so she went over to it and slaughtered it with a stone. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked about that, and he said, "There is no harm in it, so eat it."

***Malik’s Muwatta Book 20, Number 20.57.191: Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar said, "Someone who vows to sacrifice a camel or a cow to Allah should garland it with two sandals about its neck, and brand it by causing blood to flow from its side. He should then sacrifice it either at the House or at Mina on the day of sacrifice. There are no other correct places apart from those. However, someone who vows to slaughter a camel or a cow simply as a sacrifice can sacrifice it wherever he wishes."
***Malik’s Muwatta Book 24, Number 24.4.8: Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar said, "When a she-camel is slaughtered, what is in its womb is included in the slaughter if it is perfectly formed and its hair has begun to grow. ***Malik’s Muwatta Book 20, Number 20.43.141: Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar that he used to see Abdullah ibn Umar sacrificing animals two at a time during hajj and one at a time during umra. He said, "I saw him sacrifice an animal during an umra outside the house of Khalid ibn Usayd, where he was staying. I saw him stick his spear in the throat of the animal he was going to sacrifice until the spear came out under its shoulder."'
Islam’s days of sacrifice eg at the end of Hajj (Eid), are nothing more than slaughter fests.
***Malik’s Muwatta Book 20, Number 20.57.192: Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa that his father used to kill his sacrificial animals while they were standing.
Malik said, "No-one is permitted to shave his head until he has killed his sacrificial animal, and no-one must sacrifice before dawn on the day of sacrifice. The things that should be done on the day of sacrifice are slaughtering, donning clothes, grooming the body generally (at-tafath) and shaving the head, and none of this may be done before the day of sacrifice."
Batter a harmless gecko
***Muslim book 41, Number 5243: (5244)Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone kills a gecko with the first blow, such and such number of good deeds will be recorded for him, if he kills it with the second blow, such and such number of good deeds will be recorded for him less than the former; and if he kills it with the third blow, such and such number of good deeds will be recorded for him, less than the former.
Kill dogs modified to kill all black ones –
***Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 540: Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Allah's Apostle ordered that the dogs should be killed.
***Abu-Dawud Book 16, Number 2839: Narrated Abdullah ibn Mughaffal: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Were dogs not a species of creature I should command that they all be killed; but kill every pure black one. (also 2840)
And all snakes
***Muslim book 41, Number 5229: Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Kill all the snakes, and he who fears their revenge does not belong to me. (and 5228, 5230, 5231, 5236, 5240, 5241..)
You will of course be told that Mohammad/Islam is nice to animals because Mohammad picked up a bird and praised a woman who gave water to a dog and of course some animals shouldn’t be killed (*Muslim book 41, Number 5247: ... ants, bees, hoopoes, and sparrow-hawks). BUT Islam has plenty of sadism towards animals and bloody animal sacrifice is central to their religion and continues today where killing your own live animal is common.
