Problem: Terror - Solution : Interfaith!

Deborah Stone of The Anti Defamation Commission (ADC), who motto is “Opposing Racism and Antisemitism – Promoting Respect and Justice”,  reported:

The latest figures on antisemitism show 2008 has been a deeply troubling year. Incidents of attacks, graffiti and internet abuse are worse than they have ever been in Australia. Our work combating antisemitism and racism has never been more urgently needed.

She outlined two ways to counter this problem

  • Counter-terrorism experts at the Monash Global Terrorism Centre conference are recommending using multifaith activity to counter recruitment to extremism.
  • We are preparing a dynamic program for the ADC's Multifaith Future Leaders program to run in early February

Notice that these include more involvement by Muslims and their supporters, surely the very opposite of what is required!
Counter-terrorism experts met in Melbourne during the Mumbai attacks to consider ways to deal with the growing threat of global terrorism. They told the conference, run by Monash University's Global Terrorism Research Centre, that it was important to counter the recruitment of terrorists by providing improved engagement, social cohesion and community contact for people who might otherwise cross the alienation threshold and become attracted to violence. Multifaith activity was suggested as a positive way of increasing social cohesion.
The intrepid Deborah Stone was at the conference to gather information for the Jewish community:

Bill Paterson… terrorism experts concentrated on understanding the motivations of terrorists, recruitment patterns, leadership and, in particular, what we can do to stop new recruits being attracted to extremist and jihadist ideology.
The Australian Ambassador for Counter- Terrorism, Bill Paterson, said that while the war on terrorism had been successful in disrupting established terrorist networks, there were always new potential terrorists ripe for recruitment.
One proposal was that communities where extremists flourish need to be encouraged to participate in more multifaith and interfaith activities.
Rather than wait for the disaffiliated to be drawn into fundamentalism – and from there into terrorism – counter-terrorism experts are encouraging strong multifaith and social cohesion initiatives as a prophylactic.
Can interfaith dialogue or multifaith activity really have an effect on the kind of people who blow up hotels and murder rabbis?
Clearly terrorists are not interested in touchy-feely multiculturalism. Interfaith activity has a reputation as a benign but ineffective activity: well-meaning clerics choosing inoffensive fragments of liturgy for joint worship and operate on the unspoken condition that all parties avoid controversial areas.
But the argument for multifaith is not about changing terrorists’ minds, but about fighting the extremists for the vast territory of the uncommitted.

The potential terrorist does not begin as a single-minded ideologue. More likely he is young and looking for meaning. He may be disadvantaged, poorly educated and resentful of his class position. But equally likely he is university-educated, intelligent and attracted to passion and the big picture. He follows international politics and is susceptible to the charisma not only of individuals but of big ideas. \He is psychologically primed to embrace extremism. Jihadism offers a source of passion and whole world view that combines local action with global vision.

Anna Halafoff , researcher for the UNESCO Chair in Interreligious and Intercultural Relations at Monash, believes multifaith activity can fill some of this void by working at social cohesion much earlier in the process.

Monash University academic Professor David Wright-Neville developed the social cohesion model on which Ms Halafoff’s Anna Halafoffpush for strengthening multifaith initiatives is based. He identifies an alienation threshold, where people disengage from society and mix only with others who are similarly alienated. They feel society is against them and withdraw from mainstream activities. He sees such alienation as a precondition of becoming a terrorist.

This is precisely the logic of the Future Leaders Program which will be run by the ADC for the first time in February, bringing together Jewish, Muslim and Christian young leaders and teaching them leadership skills in a multifaith environment.

“We don’t think of it as a counter-terrorism program. Our role is to ensure the next generation of leaders is not infected by antisemitism and extremism,” says ADC chairman Tony Levy.

Former British police officer Bob Lambert ran the Muslim Contact Unit aimed at countering the spread of al-Qaida propaganda in London. He introduced controversial policing strategies in Britain, supporting some fundamentalist groups such as the Salafi or Islamist in opposition to al-Qaida, arguing that building bridges with those who espouse extreme religious or political ideology, but do not yet promote violence, is necessary to pulling them back from the brink.

“Someone like Tariq Ramadan, yes, he is an Islamist, yes, he is the grandson of Hassan al-Banna, but there are signs that he is prepared to engage with the West.”

There are those who believe such suggestions are naïve. Jewish leader Isi Liebler noted “All that is achieved is a façade of goodwill which ultimately only strengthens extremists at the expense of the few genuine moderates within the Islamic community,” he wrote.
But the question is not whether we should sit down to dinner with those who genuinely want to destroy us. It is whether we can give those yet uncommitted to violence a place to sit where hate is not on the menu. (source)
Listening to all this, I was reminded of the old adage “DON'T LET THE FOX GUARD THE HENHOUSE”.
There is no doubt that many academics and religious leaders have built up a lucrative career from interfaith and obtained prestigious academic posts out of a completely unproven and extremely dubious hypothesis: that interfaith leads to social cohesion. And we know that Muslims promote interfaith as a means of da’wa and Islamising our societies. Muslims are simply doing what their ideology tells them to do – making the whole world Islamic, whereas the non-Muslims involved are, whether wittingly or not, compromising our security for status and money.

His anti-terrorist policy - support your local terrorist organization and they will be nice to you.

Monash University's Global Terrorism Research Centre is staffed by the likes of Waleed Aly – need I say more?
As for Former British police officer Bob Lambert’s policing strategies in Britain, all I can say is:
if it’s worked, how come they have sharia in the UK?

Most people of common sense realise that interfaith with Islamists and their supporters is a sham. But which of our leaders will be brave enough to say so, with so much money and status at stake?

What’s more, I have news for the naïve members of the ADC: you ARE sitting down to dinner with those who want to destroy you. And you’re not listening to those who care about the security of our community, preferring to believe the Islamists’ lies and deception.

History - Violent Jihad

Australians celebrate and revere Anzac Day on April 25th each year in remembrance of our brave soldiers who fought in two great world wars to secure our freedom. Every Australian identifies with the slogan “lest we forget” and in services held around the country people reflect on the battles and men who died to secure our freedom. Yet across the world in France, there is one remarkable battle which helped form the Europe we know today and allowed the development of civilization based on Judeo Christian principles. This one famous battle has become known as the battle of Tours and effectively stopped the Muslim advance into Europe. After the death of Mohammed in 632AD, Muslim armies exploded out of the Arabian peninsula to conquer much of the Middle East, expanding across north Africa. From there they crossed into Spain in 711AD and eventually controlled much of al-Andalus by 715AD. It was the victory at Tours by Charles Martel that stemmed the tide and eventually the Muslim marauders were expelled from Spain in 1492 when the last outpost at Granada fell to King Ferdinand of Spain.

Perhaps some readers might be interested to know that January 28 is considered a feast day among Catholics – actually 2 feast days are celebrated on the same day – one is of ST Thomas Aquinas, the great medieval theologian and philosopher who adapted Aristotle to the western Judeo-Christian worldview. . It is also the feast day of a lesser known person – St Peter Nolasco, the great ransomer of captives from the Muslims.

Barbary Corsair
Somalian Islamic Pirates & Lessons from History

The dramatic rescue of the American cargo-ship captain Richard Phillips from the hands of Somalian Islamic pirates by the U.S. Navy—killing three pirates, holding him hostage at gun-point, through precision-targeting—warrants a review of the U.S. struggle with piracy and hostage-taking in North Africa, which ended two centuries ago.

Raiding trade-caravans and hostage-taking for extracting ransom in Islam was started by Prophet Muhammad. Having become powerful and secure after his relocation to Medina from Mecca in 622, Muhammad initiated Jihad or holy war in the form of raids of trade-caravans for earning livelihood for his community. In the first successful raid of a Meccan caravan at Nakhla in December 623, his brigands killed one of the attendants, took two of them captive, and acquired the caravan as “sacred” booty. The captives were ransomed to generate further revenue. Muhammad, later on, expanded this mode of Jihad to raiding non-Muslim communities around Arabia—for capturing their homes, properties and livestock, capturing their women and children as slaves often for ransoming and selling, and imposing extortional taxes—which sometimes involved mass-slaughter of the attacked victims.

The First Islamic Terrorist Attack on Australian Soil

On January 1, 1915 two Broken Hill men, both former camel drivers, armed themselves with rifles, an homemade flag bearing Islamic insignia and a large supply of ammunition and launched a surprise attack on the Picnic Train about 3 kilometres outside Broken Hill.

The train carried about 1200 Broken Hill residents to Silverton where a picnic to celebrate the new year was to take place.

The two Muslim men, Gool Mohamed originally a Pashtun tribesman from Afghanistan and Mullah Abdullah from what is known today as Pakistan, decided to wage jihad against Australian infidels after Australia and the Ottoman Empire officially joined the opposite sides in the WWI.

Battle of Higueruela

Alhambra - GazelleHow often in conversation with a Muslim, do they quote Spain as the crowning achievement of Islam, where Muslims, Jews and Christians lived in harmony for about 800 years?

And when you mention the killings and massacres, you are told that the Spanish Inquisition was much worse.
This is a misconception, since the Inquisition in Spain was responsible for only between 4,000 and 5,000 lives. [1]

Yet in 1066AD, in a single day, muslims murdered over 4,000 Jews because Vizier Joseph ibn Naghrela had risen to a position greater than them, and of course, this upset the Muslim sensitivities. [2]

History - Imperialism

Decisive Victory for the West

At this time of year, it is timely to remember one of the greatest victories of the west against the Islamic world. On the 7th October in 1571, Don Juan and the Holy League, led by Admiral Doria, defeated the larger Ottoman fleet in the Battle of Lepanto, saving Europe from the Turks and militant Islam. The Holy League was a coalition of different armies - of the Republic of Venice, the Papacy (under Pope Pius V), Spain (including Naples, Sicily and Sardinia), the Republic of Genoa, the Duchy of Savoy, the Knights Hospitaller and some others.

History - Stolen Heritage

Jerusalem - Coat of ArmsWhy do Muslims insist that Jerusalem is their Holy City?
When Mohamed and his faithful followers moved from Mecca to Medina, they found themselves among three Jewish tribes/clans (BANU-L-NADIR, BANU KAINUKA and BANU KURAIZA)  which settled there some time after their expulsion from their homeland and also living there were  two Arab, pagan tribes.

Mohammed, who at this stage needed more followers, decided to win those tribes over and convert them to his newly invented religion.

Islam was yet not as fully developed as we know it today, and Mohammed was still having his sessions with Allah (the Medina period revelations).
