Following the publication of the article on interfaith by Concerned Christian, we were handed a copy of a Bnai Birth Tony LevyAnti-Defamation Commission (ADC) Special Report dated September 2003, “The Tribulations of Islam”, written by Walter Rapoport (WR). Whilst the ADC adds a disclaimer that his views do not necessarily reflect their own, the fact that they solicited the report is concerning. Remember, they supported the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act (Vic), which has had the effect of preventing anyone from critiquing Islam. If they based their support on faulty information, they are in no position to assess the dangers Islam poses to our free society.
WR’s report displays an abysmal ignorance of the basic tenets of Islam and contains so many untenable statements that it raises the question of how the ADC, whose mission is “combating racism, intolerance and prejudice”, can be effective when it is clearly unable to recognise any of these evils when they are staring it in the face. How can they combat Islamic racism intolerance and prejudice when they are unaware it exists?
WR begins by saying:
…at a time when Jews are again becoming the targets of sustained vitriol and physical attacks… it is appropriate for Jews to reflect on that most perplexing of all our tribulations – anti-semitism.
ADC Banner
Look for the obvious - Most othe antisimitic attacks come from the Islamist and their Marxist supportrers.

So far, so good. No one could seriously dispute that there has been a resurgence in anti-semitism.
However, he goes on to say:
Co-existent with this evident rise of anti-semitism is the corresponding prevalence of ill will towards Islam. If the preponderance of reports in the Western media offer any indication of the extent of the hostility to which Moslems are being subjected, then it is essential, for Jews especially, to ponder Islam’s own perplexing tribulation –the antipathy towards it from so many quarters.
Now this exercise in moral equivalence suggests that Islam is a victim of senseless hatred, just as Jews currently are. But any knowledgeable observer would realise the opposite is the case - that Islam’s text mandates hostility towards non-Muslims, especially Jews, which is precisely why those who know this rightly fear Islam!
“Please don’t judge me on what you think you know about my religion”, pleaded a Muslim applicant for a teaching position after six months of job search without success. She wore the hijab and wondered whether this may have affected her employment opportunities. The newspaper relating the incident happily reported that after she asked to be judged solely on her teaching ability, her application was successful.
Radio Islam
Misuderstood Islam?  Apparently all Western "rulers" work for the Jews
(just click on the above photo  see it)
Hardly surprising her application was successful, as otherwise the education authorities risked being sued for discrimination! Islam manipulates our anti-discrimination laws to force its discriminatory totalitarian system on us all. We are all familiar with the scenario of using the hijab as a threat – remember the unfortunate hairdresser in London who had to pay dearly for refusing to employ a hijabbed job applicant? (see Circe’: Islam: Threat to small business)
Is it reasonable to ascribe to Islam those characteristics that its antagonists continually invoke? Is Islam’s prevailing reputation as a belligerent and aggressive phenomenon justified? A few swallows doth not a summer make – does this aphorism apply to the few maniacal radicals whose notion of Islam may be the reason why the West has developed its hostility towards it? The extent to which Islam has been vilified since some of its notorious adherents have captured world headlines, is really the subject of this analysis. How do we reconcile the pernicious activities of radical Islamists, who purportedly speak in the name of Islam, with the enshrined ethics and morals inherent in the religion itself?

Sadly, these “few maniacal radicals” are espousing mainstream Islam, as WR would realise had he read the texts rather than listened to the Islamic propaganda encountered in interfaith fraudfests. As for the enshrined ethics and morals, does he mean verses like:-

Koran 4.34  Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend their property so good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded.  As for those from whom you fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart; and beat (scourge) them.

Koran  2.223  Your women are as your field- go unto (plough) them as you will.

Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88:
Narrated 'Ursa: The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with 'Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old.

Men are in charge of women

Koran  8.12  I will instil terror into the hearts of the infidels, strike off their heads then, and strike off from them every fingertip (and toe).

Koran 5.38  As to the thief, male or female, cut off his or her hands:  a punishment by way of example from god, for their crime:.

Abu-Dawud Book 38, Number 4442: Narrated Al-Bara' ibn Azib:
I met my uncle who was carrying a standard. I asked him: Where are you going? He said: The Apostle of Allah (PBUH) has sent me to a man who has married his father's wife. He has ordered me to cut off his head and take his property.
I believe that the tendency to be swept along by prevailing, persistent and pervasive attitudes about Islam can be avoided. Those of us whose main source of information is the daily press and electronic media would be well served not to succumb so readily to spin. Too often the particulars offered to us are no more than a regurgitation of previously accepted “truths”. Messages so delivered become self-perpetuating, even when plainly wrong, the damage has already been done.
I don’t know what media WR has been perusing, but the predominant MSM spin is that Islam is benign, which I agree is plainly wrong and has done inestimable damage by lulling readers into a false sense of security and preventing them from speaking out against Islam.
Jews themselves can readily relate to the misinformation, lies and damn lies that have been stated about them over millennia. An obvious case in point is the blood libels… which patently had no authenticity in Judaism at all.
Again with the moral equivalence! Remember that many of the lies about Jews originated in, and are widely disseminated throughout the Muslim world. Just look at Al Manaar’s recent broadcast of the blood libel that Jews use the blood of Christians to bake their Passover bread, which Roland Jabbour, head of the Australian Arabic Council, endorsed, and which has not been condemned by any Islamic body in Australia. And who could forget that Pallywood Al Durra classic, exposed as a fraud, yet still widely believed throughout the world.

The challenge then is to try to understand Islam and attempt to reconcile the intuitive sense of justice and goodwill inherent in Judaism with the reluctant but palpable tendency to reproach Islam. My hope is that a judicious analysis will result in the eventual approbation of Islam, together with the parallel determination that it is indeed the radical fanatical extremists acting under the guise of Islam who are responsible for the tribulations Moslems are encountering today.
It is not a challenge to understand Islam if you are willing to listen to its mainstream teachings and its sacred text.
Koran-7:166 So when they took pride in that which they had been forbidden, We said unto them: Be ye apes despised and loathed!
Yes, we’re all for understanding Islam, based on reading its text and studying its history. Sadly, any judicious analysis would inevitably result in revulsion towards Islam and the realisation that it is not a few extremists, but mainstream Islam, which is responsible for its “tribulations.”
…during the nineteenth and earlier part of the twentieth century the term Mohammedanism
was invariably used by Western writers. The implication that the religion connoted a worship of Mohammed himself was finally realised as inappropriate and indeed unworthy since it was plainly wrong. It is also equally unworthy of the West to attribute to Islam features that are inaccurate or distorted.
Unworthy indeed to attribute to Islam qualities that it does not possess - that it is benign, peaceful, Abrahamic, liberates women, and shares our values of democracy and freedom.
As for the term Mohammedanism being wrong, Mohammed was considered the perfect example to be followed for all time, so if this isn’t worship of the man, then what is?
Koran 68.4 And surely thou hast sublime morals"
Koran 33.21 “Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow"

Also, attesting to the divine ‘oneness’ is NOT accepted unless the person also attests to the prophet by saying “Mohammad is the messenger of allah.”
It would be arrogant of me to claim reasonable authority… in Jewish/Moslem relations. Nonetheless, I consider that certain observations can facilitate the understanding of an extremely complex issue (further complicated by the apparent hostility that emanates from predominantly Moslem countries towards Israel and, perhaps by implication, towards Jews).
WR has zero knowledge of Islam, so his arrogance in presuming to write this report is breathtaking!
As for the “apparent” hostility that emanates from Moslem countries towards Israel, do the names “Nasrallah” (“If Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide.”)  ...or “Ahmedinejad” and their real hostility mean nothing to him?

WR attempts to draw an analogy between Judaism’s and Islam’s interpretation of its rules using reason and analytical methods, which are wholly absent in the Islamic world.

These general outlines are indicative of the scholarly nature of these two great monotheistic religions. A compilation of its laws is completed, interpretations of their meaning are assembled, arguments are presented and rulings are generated.

In the case of Islam, one particular concept – jihad – is perhaps the most controversial, and certainly the one that has contributed most to the idea that Islam is a militaristic religion out to convert (or subdue) all non-believers.

The commonly recognised definition of jihad is holy war. It seems axiomatic then that some sort of violent, militaristic quest must be undertaken, under religious auspices, to subjugate those attacked and have them submit to Islam….the term jihad comes from the Arabic word jihada, meaning to struggle or exert. A judicious examination of Islam’s attitude towards Judaism will reveal that the concept of jihad as enunciated by militant Moslems does not bear up under scrutiny. In fact, Islam accords Judaism special status (Christianity too, is also accorded special status).

Yes, jihad does mean struggle, but as Waleed Shoebat points out, so does Mein Kampf, so does that exonerate Nazism? As for the “special status” accorded to the “People of the Book”, this is dhimmitude – the wretched subjugation outlined in the Koran, arguably an improvement on the text’s mandate of death for all others, but personally, I’d sooner die than live as a dhimmi.

Reliance of the Traveller, law o9.0 p599 JIHAD writes “Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada, signifying warfare to establish the religion.”

Koran 2.216 Jihad (holy fighting in allah’s cause) is ordained for you  (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you.  Allah knows but you do not know

Koran 5.51 O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.

Koran 5.64  The Jews say: "Allah's hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah love not those who do mischief.

Koran 2.65 And ye know of those of you who broke the Sabbath. We said unto them: Be ye apes, despised and hated!

Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 176: Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:
Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.' "
Judaism is a religious truth for Moslems. The Torah was a revelation from G-d, and for Moslems to dispute this is considered apostasy. The Koran declares that Moslems must not distinguish “among the Prophets of G-d”  - and Abraham, Moses and David are recognised as being amongst them, and specifically states that “those who follow the Jewish scriptures have no cause to fear, nor shall they grieve.”
This verse has been abrogated, but it is doubtful if WR has heard the term, as it is never mentioned in interfaith kumbaya sessions.
Yes, the Koran recognises the Prophets, insisting they were all Muslims!
Jewish victims of Mumbai Massacre
Jewish victims made up a disproportionate number of the foreigners killed after  Muslim terrorists stormed a series of sites in Mumbai, torturing their captors before they were bound together and killed.
Islam has declared that the G-d of the Jews and its G-d are one and the same. There is no suggestion then, that at the epicentre of Islamic declarations, Jews should be targeted for specific condemnation [it should be noted that the Koran does contain a number of anti-Jewish statements – Ed.] As Islam’s dominance expanded, Jews became constituents of societies governed by Islamic law and were still able to function with their own institutions intact. There were instances of Jews betraying the “state” – some were fined, some expelled, some even executed. These consequences were directed at the individuals themselves – not at Jews as a distinct group.
Islam might have declared that we worship the same God, but unless you worship SATAN, we beg to differ.
No condemnation of Jews in the text! Space doesn’t permit including the vast amount of hate.
As for Jews functioning under Islam’s dominance, perhaps Rapoport could read Bat Ye’or or Andrew Bostom for the reality of Jews living under sharia.
He is dead wrong about the consequences being directed at the individuals. If only one Jew broke the dhimmi pact (or was even rumoured to have done so), there was collective punishment of the whole community, e.g. the expulsion and beheading of Jews in Medina.
A cursory glance across many centuries would attest to the fact that the Jewish experience under Islamic hegemony was better than the circumstances in which they had lived since the destruction of the First Temple…. It was at this time that the first trickle of Jews began to reach the Arabian Peninsula, where Islam was soon to take root and spread to North Africa and into Spain. Jews had endured continuous persecution under Christian rule in Spain; their so-called “Golden Age” began with the advent of Moslem occupation. The Ottoman invasions of Arab Moslem lands did not affect Jewish life adversely: in fact tolerance was the order of the day.
Oh, the glorious “Golden Age”, which is of course a complete myth.
Read Robert Spencer’s Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam, chapter 4, or any of the aforementioned books for the truth about life for the Jews in Islamic Spain.

It seems that the intolerance towards Judaism that pervades Islamic culture today (note the term culture rather than religion) really began to manifest itself after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1917, when Turkey, a non-Arab state, was quickly transformed into a largely secular state, the Arabian lands were transformed into nation states, and the Zionist dream was rapidly becoming reality. It was distinctively the Arab nations alone that suddenly developed the cultural phenomena that led many to believe that a “clash of civilisations” was imminent.

This change occurred because so-called Islamic scholars began to invoke religious rulings that were adapted to suit their own ends. For example, some Moslem clerics ruled that Jews had to accept the status of second-class citizens if they wanted to live amongst Moslems. Furthermore, according to these edicts, Moslems could legitimately kill Jews if they refused to accept this status. In my belief, moderate Islam has always disavowed such mandates, declaring them invalid, taken out of context, and not compatible with the faith.
Nothing to do with religion – it’s just the Arab culture!
So dhimmitude and killing Jews was only dreamed up after the defeat of the Ottomans after WW1! Wrong Rapoport! Completely and utterly wrong!
Intolerance towards Judaism started with Islam and is inextricably woven into the theology.

How can you get it so horribly wrong?
You are entitled be your belief that Islam is essentially moderate, just as you are entitled to believe there are fairies at the bottom of the garden or that you are Napoleon. But your belief is based purely on your fanciful imagination.
Since the creation of the State of Israel, the numerous wars have added further fuel to fires of the Islamists, whose antagonism towards Judaism and Israel has transcended the borders of the Middle East.

And who started every single war? Here’s a clue - it wasn’t the Jews!
The antipathy towards Islam will only be redressed when militant Islam is overwhelmed by moderate Islam, or more correctly, by real Islam… It is hoped that when Moslem clerics like Egypt’s Grand Sheik of Al-Azhar proposes the banning of books that promote extremism, then maybe we are at the threshold of change…The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is still a best seller in Egypt, so an Egyptian cleric’s proclamation denouncing extremism and promoting greater dialogue with the West carries special significance.

Let’s hope REAL Islam will materialise. So far we’ve endured 1,400 years of ARTIFICIAL Islam, with nary a peep from supposedly “real Islam”!
Change can be accelerated if we are not merely bystanders while Islam sorts itself out autonomously, but summon the courage to engage in dialogue, to forge understandings between all peoples, so that the discord that is consuming us will gradually evaporate and that peace on Earth, which we so dearly cherish, can come upon us speedily in our days.
Let's cherish Islamic Peace
Just misunderstood religion of peace. Muslim Palestinians publically, “rejoice” in mutilating and  showing off body parts taken out from  the bodies of two Israeli reservists.
Maybe Islam doesn’t want to sort itself out, but remain true to its jihadi ideology.
We might cherish peace, my poor deluded Wally, but Islam cherishes endless aggression until the whole world becomes Islamic. Then we will all live in peace, if by that you mean the peace of the dead or subjugation as a slave of allah.

And what dialogue would you suggest - you and Waleed Ali sitting down over a latte and agreeing how absurdly nice, yet dreadfully misunderstood, the real Islam is?

Better than facing the reality that Islam is deadly to all non-Muslims, particularly Jews!

History - Violent Jihad

Australians celebrate and revere Anzac Day on April 25th each year in remembrance of our brave soldiers who fought in two great world wars to secure our freedom. Every Australian identifies with the slogan “lest we forget” and in services held around the country people reflect on the battles and men who died to secure our freedom. Yet across the world in France, there is one remarkable battle which helped form the Europe we know today and allowed the development of civilization based on Judeo Christian principles. This one famous battle has become known as the battle of Tours and effectively stopped the Muslim advance into Europe. After the death of Mohammed in 632AD, Muslim armies exploded out of the Arabian peninsula to conquer much of the Middle East, expanding across north Africa. From there they crossed into Spain in 711AD and eventually controlled much of al-Andalus by 715AD. It was the victory at Tours by Charles Martel that stemmed the tide and eventually the Muslim marauders were expelled from Spain in 1492 when the last outpost at Granada fell to King Ferdinand of Spain.

Perhaps some readers might be interested to know that January 28 is considered a feast day among Catholics – actually 2 feast days are celebrated on the same day – one is of ST Thomas Aquinas, the great medieval theologian and philosopher who adapted Aristotle to the western Judeo-Christian worldview. . It is also the feast day of a lesser known person – St Peter Nolasco, the great ransomer of captives from the Muslims.

Barbary Corsair
Somalian Islamic Pirates & Lessons from History
The dramatic rescue of the American cargo-ship captain Richard Phillips from the hands of Somalian Islamic pirates by the U.S. Navy—killing three pirates, holding him hostage at gun-point, through precision-targeting—warrants a review of the U.S. struggle with piracy and hostage-taking in North Africa, which ended two centuries ago.

Raiding trade-caravans and hostage-taking for extracting ransom in Islam was started by Prophet Muhammad. Having become powerful and secure after his relocation to Medina from Mecca in 622, Muhammad initiated Jihad or holy war in the form of raids of trade-caravans for earning livelihood for his community. In the first successful raid of a Meccan caravan at Nakhla in December 623, his brigands killed one of the attendants, took two of them captive, and acquired the caravan as “sacred” booty. The captives were ransomed to generate further revenue. Muhammad, later on, expanded this mode of Jihad to raiding non-Muslim communities around Arabia—for capturing their homes, properties and livestock, capturing their women and children as slaves often for ransoming and selling, and imposing extortional taxes—which sometimes involved mass-slaughter of the attacked victims.

Battle of Broken Hill Logo
The First Islamic Terrorist Attack on Australian Soil
On January 1, 1915 two Broken Hill men, both former camel drivers, armed themselves with rifles, an homemade flag bearing Islamic insignia and a large supply of ammunition and launched a surprise attack on the Picnic Train about 3 kilometres outside Broken Hill.

The train carried about 1200 Broken Hill residents to Silverton where a picnic to celebrate the new year was to take place.

The two Muslim men, Gool Mohamed originally a Pashtun tribesman from Afghanistan and Mullah Abdullah from what is known today as Pakistan, decided to wage jihad against Australian infidels after Australia and the Ottoman Empire officially joined the opposite sides in the WWI.

And when you mention the killings and massacres, you are told that the Spanish Inquisition was much worse.
This is a misconception, since the Inquisition in Spain was responsible for only between 4,000 and 5,000 lives. [1]

Yet in 1066AD, in a single day, muslims murdered over 4,000 Jews because Vizier Joseph ibn Naghrela had risen to a position greater than them, and of course, this upset the Muslim sensitivities. [2]

Decisive Victory for the West

At this time of year, it is timely to remember one of the greatest victories of the west against the Islamic world. On the 7th October in 1571, Don Juan and the Holy League, led by Admiral Doria, defeated the larger Ottoman fleet in the Battle of Lepanto, saving Europe from the Turks and militant Islam. The Holy League was a coalition of different armies - of the Republic of Venice, the Papacy (under Pope Pius V), Spain (including Naples, Sicily and Sardinia), the Republic of Genoa, the Duchy of Savoy, the Knights Hospitaller and some others.

Jerusalem - Coat of ArmsWhy do Muslims insist that Jerusalem is their Holy City?
When Mohamed and his faithful followers moved from Mecca to Medina, they found themselves among three Jewish tribes/clans (BANU-L-NADIR, BANU KAINUKA and BANU KURAIZA)  which settled there some time after their expulsion from their homeland and also living there were  two Arab, pagan tribes.

Mohammed, who at this stage needed more followers, decided to win those tribes over and convert them to his newly invented religion.

Islam was yet not as fully developed as we know it today, and Mohammed was still having his sessions with Allah (the Medina period revelations).
