Peace in our time

E-mail Print PDF

PeacemakersA Piece of this land and a piece of that….

Many people make passing reference to Neville Chamberlain’s speech to the British Parliament in 1938, which has become the iconic speech of a typical appeaser.

What are some of the things that Chamberlain said? In fact the things he said, we hear frequently in our day from interfaith groups, rose coloured glasses committees and the apathetic, here in Australia, Europe and the US.

Chamberlain says of his trip to Munich to sign off on Hitler’s land grab of Czechoslovakia’s Sudetenland.

Before I come to describe the Agreement which was signed at Munich in the small hours of Friday morning last, I would like to remind the House of two things which I think it very essential not to forget when those terms are being considered. The first is this: We did not go there to decide whether the predominantly German areas in the Sudetenland should be passed over to the German Reich. That had been decided already… What we had to consider was the method, the conditions and the time of the transfer of the territory. The second point to remember is… We had populations inflamed to a high degree; we had extremists on both sides ready to work up and provoke incidents; we had considerable quantities of arms which were by no means confined to regularly organised forces. Therefore, it was essential that we should quickly reach a conclusion, so that this painful and difficult operation of transfer might be carried out at the earliest possible moment and concluded as soon as was consistent, with orderly procedure, in order that we might avoid the possibility of something that might have rendered all our attempts at peaceful solution useless . . ..  (source)

Chamberlain’s emphasis on ‘order’ and ‘procedure’ reminds us of those who think all can be solved by committes and his mistaken understanding of what a ‘peaceful solution’ entails brings home what we hear in deluded Australians and others who believe Islam is a religion of peace – when the Qur’an explicitly states the opposite . I mean, how insulting to Muslims themselves,  not to take the words of their own holy book seriously. Recently in Melbourne when an interfaith peace ceremony was held [ironically called ‘Peace by piece’ – one could add ‘Yes, a piece of this country and a piece of that one’], we were told the following:

"The two main hosts for the event are a Christian girl and Muslim Boy" (source)
We love peace
Another peace loving pair - Muslim leader Fadi Rahman with Kevin Rudd at the 2020 Summit

Now I happen to have been involved with young adults a few years ago in my work - a Christian girl and Muslim boy - who wanted to get married and the presenting problem was that the family of the Muslim boy wanted to kill the boy and girl for falling in love. They survived I suspect by living secret lives and looking over their shoulders all the time. And this was in peaceful Australia! I also spoke to the wife of a Muslim who had converted to Protestant Christianity and who spoke to me about the problems of her school aged children – and she told me without batting an eyelid that if her husband ever found out she had converted and christened the children, she and the children would be killed. No peace talks. Now this is in peaceful Australia too.

Is there a cognitive dissonance here, a ‘sub-prime’ grasp of the reality of Islam on the part of Australians?

Such peace ceremonies as held in Melbourne earlier this year, and which are popular in all Australian states, have laudable aims and would work, except for the fact that Islam is not playing ball the way the other religions do. Members of other faiths do not kill when a member leaves. Muslims do. This is sanctioned by the religion. One man, a convert from Islam, who lives in the US and uses the pseudonym Muhammad Kemel said recently to Joel Richardson, co-editor of "Why We Left Islam: Former Muslims Speak Out."

Armenian Genocide
Armenian boys and girls - victims of Islamic peacemaking (1915-16)

……….Islamic tradition teaches that those who leave Islam should be killed, and Muhammad taught, "Whoever leaves his religion (Islam) kill him." And while the United States is not governed by Islam's Shariah religious law, many fundamentalist Muslims do not see Shariah law as being limited by national boundaries.
………Sadly I heard some of our American leaders and church pastors state that Islam is a peaceful religion, and what happened on 9/11 was done by fanatic Muslims……..These individuals ignore the fact that the main goal of Islam is to rule the world. (source)
Here is an ex-Muslim himself telling us not to believe the Islamic ‘peace in our time’ talk. So why do we continue to do so? Perhaps the uncomfortable questions to ask is -  what action could Chamberlain have taken with regard to the take-over of the Sudetenland in 1938. In fact, it would not have taken much to stand up to Hitler – according to Norman Davies , whose recently published book on World War II is one of the most penetrating and readable accounts of what happened at that time.

Hitler himself was surprised at how quickly the west, particularly Britain caved in. He could not believe his good luck. Even when pushed to the wall because of the prior British promise to defend Poland if she were invaded, there was still no help from Britain when she was invaded, as by now it was all too complicated, and so occupation by two hostile powers, one Nazi, the other totalitarian, ensued with long dire consequences for the Jews, Poles, Czechs, Hungarians and all who suffered in the bloodbath – after all that peace talk!!. As well as that, as regards Poland, there was the ‘sell off’ to the Soviet Union at the beginning and the end of the war. And add this to the fact that Britain had insisted on western nations not rearming, while turning a blind eye to the radical rearming going on in Germany, and nations like Czechoslovakia and Poland, having complied, to their detriment when attacked, were unable to defend themselves. And all the subsequent horrors were unleashed , not only because Chamberlain bleated for years about ‘peace’, but also because ordinary men and women believed him and went along with him.

The frightening parallel for our times in confronting the evil of Islamic ideology,  requires creative and effective action. What action can we take in the face of Islamic bullying disguised as ‘peace’?  At least firstly, to say clearly that Islam does not wish for peace, it only says such things as a ‘first’ step in the plan for global domination. Secondly, we need to publicize those who have left Islam who alert us to its true aims and nature. Thirdly, we need to show ‘spine’ at every possible opportunity – for that was the most lacking quality in the 1930s in the west.

The meaning of Islamic peacemaking in India Jaipur, May 13, 2008

Finally let us reflect more on the words of Chamberlain’s 1938 ‘peace’ speech:

Ever since I assumed my present office my main purpose has been to work for the pacification of Europe, for the removal of those suspicions and those animosities which have so long poisoned the air. The path which leads to appeasement is long and bristles with obstacles. The question of Czechoslovakia is the latest and perhaps the most dangerous. Now that we have got past it, I feel that it may be possible to make further progress along the road to sanity. (source)
So in the end, it was Chamberlain’s ‘removal of suspicions’ which ‘poisoned the air’  and with his talk of peace, it was Chamberlain who lead his people away from ‘the road to sanity’. Those who talk of peace are not necessarily the ones who create and defend it, and those who fight for it, are often the ones who most profoundly understand what it means.

History - Violent Jihad

Australians celebrate and revere Anzac Day on April 25th each year in remembrance of our brave soldiers who fought in two great world wars to secure our freedom. Every Australian identifies with the slogan “lest we forget” and in services held around the country people reflect on the battles and men who died to secure our freedom. Yet across the world in France, there is one remarkable battle which helped form the Europe we know today and allowed the development of civilization based on Judeo Christian principles. This one famous battle has become known as the battle of Tours and effectively stopped the Muslim advance into Europe. After the death of Mohammed in 632AD, Muslim armies exploded out of the Arabian peninsula to conquer much of the Middle East, expanding across north Africa. From there they crossed into Spain in 711AD and eventually controlled much of al-Andalus by 715AD. It was the victory at Tours by Charles Martel that stemmed the tide and eventually the Muslim marauders were expelled from Spain in 1492 when the last outpost at Granada fell to King Ferdinand of Spain.

He was and continues to be an icon for the classes and masses alike and is seen as a rallying point for peasants oppressed by foreign rulers, Pathans and Moghuls alike. Sexually exploited women found in Shivaji Raje a protector, a benefactor and flocked to his Hindavi Swaraj to find solace and feel liberated under his saffron flag.

Perhaps some readers might be interested to know that January 28 is considered a feast day among Catholics – actually 2 feast days are celebrated on the same day – one is of ST Thomas Aquinas, the great medieval theologian and philosopher who adapted Aristotle to the western Judeo-Christian worldview. . It is also the feast day of a lesser known person – St Peter Nolasco, the great ransomer of captives from the Muslims.

Barbary Corsair
Somalian Islamic Pirates & Lessons from History

The dramatic rescue of the American cargo-ship captain Richard Phillips from the hands of Somalian Islamic pirates by the U.S. Navy—killing three pirates, holding him hostage at gun-point, through precision-targeting—warrants a review of the U.S. struggle with piracy and hostage-taking in North Africa, which ended two centuries ago.

Raiding trade-caravans and hostage-taking for extracting ransom in Islam was started by Prophet Muhammad. Having become powerful and secure after his relocation to Medina from Mecca in 622, Muhammad initiated Jihad or holy war in the form of raids of trade-caravans for earning livelihood for his community. In the first successful raid of a Meccan caravan at Nakhla in December 623, his brigands killed one of the attendants, took two of them captive, and acquired the caravan as “sacred” booty. The captives were ransomed to generate further revenue. Muhammad, later on, expanded this mode of Jihad to raiding non-Muslim communities around Arabia—for capturing their homes, properties and livestock, capturing their women and children as slaves often for ransoming and selling, and imposing extortional taxes—which sometimes involved mass-slaughter of the attacked victims.

Battle of Broken Hill Logo

The First Islamic Terrorist Attack on Australian Soil

On January 1, 1915 two Broken Hill men, both former camel drivers, armed themselves with rifles, an homemade flag bearing Islamic insignia and a large supply of ammunition and launched a surprise attack on the Picnic Train about 3 kilometres outside Broken Hill.

The train carried about 1200 Broken Hill residents to Silverton where a picnic to celebrate the new year was to take place.

The two Muslim men, Gool Mohamed originally a Pashtun tribesman from Afghanistan and Mullah Abdullah from what is known today as Pakistan, decided to wage jihad against Australian infidels after Australia and the Ottoman Empire officially joined the opposite sides in the WWI.

Alhambra - GazelleHow often in conversation with a Muslim, do they quote Spain as the crowning achievement of Islam, where Muslims, Jews and Christians lived in harmony for about 800 years?

And when you mention the killings and massacres, you are told that the Spanish Inquisition was much worse.
This is a misconception, since the Inquisition in Spain was responsible for only between 4,000 and 5,000 lives. [1]

Yet in 1066AD, in a single day, muslims murdered over 4,000 Jews because Vizier Joseph ibn Naghrela had risen to a position greater than them, and of course, this upset the Muslim sensitivities. [2]

History - Imperialism

Decisive Victory for the West

At this time of year, it is timely to remember one of the greatest victories of the west against the Islamic world. On the 7th October in 1571, Don Juan and the Holy League, led by Admiral Doria, defeated the larger Ottoman fleet in the Battle of Lepanto, saving Europe from the Turks and militant Islam. The Holy League was a coalition of different armies - of the Republic of Venice, the Papacy (under Pope Pius V), Spain (including Naples, Sicily and Sardinia), the Republic of Genoa, the Duchy of Savoy, the Knights Hospitaller and some others.

Jerusalem - Coat of ArmsWhy do Muslims insist that Jerusalem is their Holy City?
When Mohamed and his faithful followers moved from Mecca to Medina, they found themselves among three Jewish tribes/clans (BANU-L-NADIR, BANU KAINUKA and BANU KURAIZA)  which settled there some time after their expulsion from their homeland and also living there were  two Arab, pagan tribes.

Mohammed, who at this stage needed more followers, decided to win those tribes over and convert them to his newly invented religion.

Islam was yet not as fully developed as we know it today, and Mohammed was still having his sessions with Allah (the Medina period revelations).
